44. Arbeit mit Angehörigen

Zusammenfassung

Studien, in denen Angehörige von Essstörungspatientinnen über ihre Bedürfnisse befragt wurden, zeigen auf, dass diese Angehörigen oft große Wissens- und Fähigkeitslücken bei sich selbst identifizieren und sich auch von professioneller Seite mangelhaft unterstützt und beraten fühlen. Neuere Forschung deutet darauf hin, dass Angehörige durch ihre Verhaltensweise bei der Entstehung von dysfunktionalen interpersonellen Teufelskreisen mitwirken und somit unfreiwillig zur Aufrechterhaltung von Essstörungssymptomatik beitragen können. Internationale Leitlinien empfehlen frühstmögliche Einbeziehung von Angehörigen in die Behandlung von Essstörungen. Ziele der Angehörigenarbeit sind u. a., den Angehörigen spezifisches Wissen über Symptome, Risiken, Behandlung und Prognose von Essstörung zu vermitteln und ihnen Fähigkeiten beizubringen, dysfunktionale interpersonelle Teufelskreise zu erkennen, die die Erkrankung aufrechterhalten, und diese gezielt zu bearbeiten.
