46. Stammzellen und deren Bedeutung in der Geburtshilfe

Zusammenfassung

Hämatopoietische Stammzellen werden mittlerweile erfolgreich bei einer Vielzahl von malignen und nicht malignen Krankheiten transplantiert, in erster Linie Leukämien, schwere Anämien, schwere Immundefizienzen und angeborene Stoffwechselstörungen. Nabelschnurblut erweitert die Möglichkeit für die Gewinnung von hämatopoietischen Stammzellen, v. a. für Patienten, die sonst keinen passenden Spender finden können.
Die Wahrscheinlichkeit, dass ein anonym gespendetes (allogenes) Nabelschnurbluttransplantat von einer öffentlichen Bank gebraucht und transplantiert wird, ist mehr als 100× größer als die Verwendung der eigenen (autologen) hämatopoietischen Nabelschnurblutstammzellen aus einer privaten Bank.
Die Aufgabe des Arztes im Zusammenhang mit der Entscheidung für eine Nabelschnurspende beinhaltet eine ausführliche, möglichst objektive Aufklärung. Grundlagen dazu bilden Empfehlungen nationaler und internationaler Fachgesellschaften.
