9. Körperliches Training als Entspannungstechnik

Zusammenfassung

Körperliche Aktivität, aerobes Ausdauer- oder lokales Krafttraining sind per Definition keine eigentlichen Entspannungstechniken. Sie zeigen aber in vielen Bereichen ähnliche Effekte wie die bekannten klassischen Entspannungsverfahren. Eine überwältigende Evidenz deutet darauf hin, dass körperliches Training weit größere und umfassendere Auswirkungen hat als bisher gedacht. Neben dem Bewegungsapparat werden viele andere Organsysteme und dabei insbesondere das Gehirn positiv verändert. Verantwortlich hierfür sind neuroendokrine und molekulare Prozesse, die sich auf die Funktion und Struktur des Hirns auswirken. In ihrer Kombination bewirken sie die charakteristischen Effekte auf die Kognition, die Stimmungslage und das Verhalten. Erhöhte körperliche Aktivität und aerobes Training lindern Angstsymptome und dämpfen chronischen Stress. Der Einsatz von regelmäßiger körperlicher Aktivität und Sport bei Depressionen hat in aktuellen Behandlungsrichtlinien einen hohen Stellenwert und ist robust mit Evidenz untermauert. Zu den charakteristischen psychosozialen Effekten körperlicher Aktivität zählen die Beeinflussung des Selbstbildes, eine Steigerung der Selbstwirksamkeitserwartung sowie vermehrte soziale Kontakte.
