Zusammenfassung

Demenz (ICD-10-Code: F00-F03) zeichnet ein klinisches Syndrom als Folge einer meist chronischen oder fortschreitenden Erkrankung des Gehirns mit Störung vieler höherer kortikaler Funktionen, wie zum Beispiel Gedächtnis, Denken, Orientierung, Auffassung, Rechnen, Sprache und Urteilsvermögen. Das Bewusstsein ist nicht getrübt. Meist sind die kognitiven Veränderungen begleitet von Veränderungen der emotionalen Kontrolle und des Sozialverhaltens (siehe Tabelle 6.1).
