Zusammenfassung

Dieses Kapitel soll verdeutlichen, dass die Aktualisierung von Erinnerungen durchaus ein zweischneidiges Schwert ist. Zuweilen macht sie uns zu lausigen Augenzeugen, was fatale Folgen haben kann. Und doch tragen wir mit ihr einen unschätzbaren Gewinn davon. Denn Gedächtnis-Updates ermöglichen Vorhersagen, die bestens an eine sich ständig wandelnde Welt angepasst sind. Zudem erschließen sie Therapieoptionen, die erlauben, sich aus Verstrickungen mit längst Vergangenem zu lösen …
