Auszug

Erfolgreiche Wiederbelebungsversuche bringen vielen Menschen eine nützliche und wertvolle Verlängerung des Lebens und damit ihren Angehörigen und Nahestehenden Glück und Erleichterung. Jedoch verlängern Reanimationsversuche gelegentlich nur das Leiden und den Sterbeprozess. Und in wenigen Fällen führt die Reanimation zur ultimativen Tragödie — der Patient im persistierenden vegetativen Zustand. Reanimationsversuche bleiben in 70–95% der Fälle erfolglos und der Tod erweist sich als unabwendbar. Alle wünschen für sich einen würdevollen Tod. …
