Zusammenfassung

Bei Patienten mit Verdacht auf einen akuten Schlaganfall sollte unverzüglich eine Einweisung in das nächstgelegene Krankenhaus mit Stroke Unit erfolgen. Je kürzer das Intervall zwischen Symptombeginn und Eintreffen im Krankenhaus ist, desto besser sind die Therapiemöglichkeiten. Die schnellstmögliche Thrombolyse und die frühe Behandlung auf einer Stroke Unit verbessert die Prognose des Patienten. Der folgende Beitrag erläutert die Bedeutung des Zeitfaktors beim Management des akuten Schlaganfalls und zeigt Wege auf, wie Verzögerungen in der Prähospitalphase vermieden werden können. Weiterhin werden die wichtigsten Aspekte der Akutbehandlung bei Erstkontakt und Transport besprochen.
