Zusammenfassung
Nach einer Klärung zentraler Begriffe wird gezeigt, dass sozial schlechter gestellte Beschäftigte häufiger von belastenden Arbeitsbedingungen betroffen sind. Dies gilt für physikalische und chemische Noxen wie auch für die anhand etablierter soziologischer Stressmodelle erfassten psychosozialen Belastungen. Umfangreiche Forschungsergebnisse zeigen, dass diese Belastungen zur Erklärung sozial ungleicher Krankheitslast einen signifikanten Beitrag leisten. Praktische Folgerungen aus diesen neuen Erkenntnissen betreffen eine Intensivierung von Maßnahmen betrieblicher Gesundheitsförderung und eine Stärkung nationaler Programme der Arbeitsmarkt- und Sozialpolitik.
