ADVS or Activities of Daily Vision Scale is a measure of visual function and is one of a number of vision-related quality of life questionnaires which can be classified under patient-reported outcome assessments.

Description

ADVS is a condition-specific health-related quality of life measure which was developed by Mangione et al. (1992) for use in subjects with cataracts. The item development originated from clinicians and patients who identified activities that were most difficult for people with cataracts to perform. These were categorized into five subscales which included night driving, daytime driving, distance vision activations that do not require driving, near vision activities, and activities subject to glare. Twenty of the most frequently identified activities were then used in a draft questionnaire and tested in two groups. One group (n = 100) completed an interviewer administered questionnaire.
