Eine Harnwegsinfektion (HWI) wird als unkompliziert klassifiziert, wenn sie bei einem Patienten mit strukturell und funktionell normalem Harntrakt auftritt. Sie wird als kompliziert klassifiziert, wenn anatomische oder funktionelle Anomalitäten im Harntrakt oder Grunderkrankungen vorliegen, die zu HWI prädisponieren.
