Summary

Those who are currently looked after in nursing homes are advanced in years as well as progressively multimorbid. The majority is affected by dementia. Hence the primary tasks of nursing homes have thoroughly changed in recent years. A high quality of life for old-aged residents can only be granted if professional care as well as geriatric and palliative treatment are combined with communicative competence so that those suffering from dementia can be reached.
