Zusammenfassung
Intensivstationen sind Risikobereiche mit schwer krankem Patientenklientel und hoher Arbeitsbelastung für das Personal. Für die Patienten besteht ein erhöhtes Risiko, im Rahmen des Aufenthalts eine nosokomiale Infektion zu erwerben. Besonders gefährdet sind invasiv beatmete Patienten. Eine primäre Blutstrominfektion bei liegendem zentralem Venenkatheter kann zudem noch gravierendere Komplikationen mit sich führen. Nicht nur im Hinblick auf die stetig zunehmende Zahl von multiresistenten Erregern ist die konsequente Durchführung von Präventionsmaßnahmen zur Vermeidung von Erregerübertragungen und Infektionen essenziell. Die wichtigste Einzelmaßnahme ist die Händedesinfektion. Durch einen guten Personalschlüssel, regelmäßige Schulungen und durch die Einführung von im Team erarbeiteten Maßnahmenbündeln können Infektionsraten deutlich reduziert und die Compliance der Mitarbeiter erhöht werden.
