Abstract
Abstract: The influence of other's judgments on assumed partner preferences of third persons was investigated. Participants received a scenario in which an actor becomes acquainted to a potential partner who was judged by a friend of the actor with regard to physical attractiveness (low vs. high) and dominance (low vs. high). The participants indicated whether the actor would call the potential partner (short-term perspective) and whether the actor was interested in a romantic relationship (long-term perspective). Participants assumed that male actors are mainly influenced by ratings regarding physical attractiveness. Regarding female actors, it was assumed that whereas they especially value physical attractiveness given a short-term perspective, the potential partner has to be both attractive and dominant given a long-term perspective.
