Zusammenfassung

Der Begriff „Hepatische Enzephalopathie“ (HE) umschreibt ein neuropsychiatrisches Syndrom [1], das als Komplikation akuter oder chronischer Lebererkrankungen auftritt. Das Ausmaß dieser Hirnfunktionsstörung reicht von einem subklinischen Bild bis hin zum tiefen Koma mit massivem Hirnödem und drohender foraminaler Herniation [2]. Die Diagnose einer HE darf erst nach Ausschluß einer neurologischen Erkrankung diagnostiziert werden.
