Zusammenfassung
Der Begriff des „zervikalen Schwindels“ löst noch immer bei der Mehrheit von Neurologen und Hals-Nasen-Ohrenärzten Reaktionen von Unverständnis bis krasse Ablehnung aus. Viele Autoren distanzieren sich von dieser Vorstellung und versuchen, andere Ursachen zu beschreiben: „Drehschwindel und Nystagmus zusammen mit Schmerzen der Halswirbelsäule und Einschränkung der Beweglichkeit sollten nicht als zervikaler Schwindel bezeichnet werden; in posttraumatischen Fällen sollte vielmehr eine Dissektion der Vertebralarterie ausgeschlossen werden.“ [7]. Bei Patienten ohne ein entsprechendes somatisches Korrelat für „echten“ Schwindel wird zumeist ein phobischer Schwankschwindel auf der Basis einer emotional-psychischen Belastungssituation angenommen [8].
