Zusammenfassung

Attackenweise auftretende Schwindelbeschwerden sind ein häufiges Symptom in der Hals-Nasen-Ohren-ärztlichen Praxis. Die Diagnose des Morbus Menière hat inzwischen eine beträchtliche Anzahl von Differentialdiagnosen, die zu berücksichtigen in der täglich klinischen Routine wesentlich ist. Angesichts der Vielzahl an Symptombildern, der oft beträchtlichen Komorbiditäten der Patienten und der stark variierenden Frequenz einzelner Attacken bei vielen Krankheitsbildern ist ein definiertes klinisches Konzept zur Planung der Diagnostik und zur Selektion der Differentialdiagnose unerlässlich. Für eine Vielzahl von Problemstellungen liegen Empfehlungen in Form von Leitlinien vor. Diese liefern notwendige Hilfestellungen für die im Einzelfall adäquate Diagnostik und die Effektivität konkurrierender Therapieverfahren. Das Vorgehen nach Leitlinien-Empfehlung kann sichern, welche Patienten adäquat medikamentös zu behandeln sind und in welchen Fällen und zu welchem Zeitpunkt gegebenenfalls operative Verfahren angebracht sind.
