Zusammenfassung

Viele Patienten konsultieren den Hals-Nasen-Ohrenarzt wegen Schwindel und Gleichgewichtsstörungen. Eine der häufigsten Schwindelursachen ist der sog. benigne paroxysmale Lagerungsschwindel (BPLS) [58]. Jeder dritte Mensch ist bis zu seinem 70. Lebensjahr einmal von dieser Erkrankung betroffen. Beim BPLS handelt es sich um einen plötzlich einsetzenden Drehschwindel (systematischer Schwindel), der bei Veränderungen der Kopfoder Körperposition auftritt (Hinlegen ins Bett, Aufstehen aus dem Bett, Umdrehen im Bett, Kopf anteflektieren, z. B. beim Schuhezubinden, Kopf reklinieren, z. B. beim Blick nach oben) [49].
