„Das war wirklich eine gute Idee von mir gewesen“, dachte Frau Dr. Emily. Frau Dr. Emily war im zweiten Ausbildungsjahr auf dem Weg zur Internistin und seit kurzem auf der Intensivstation eingeteilt. Sie fühlte sich dort meist unwohl, denn die Komplexität der Patientenverläufe und die oft unter Zeitdruck zu treffenden Entscheidungen überforderten sie. Sie hatte deshalb beschlossen, an dem Kurs Advanced Life Support (ALS) des European Resuscitation Council (ERC) teilzunehmen, um zumindest in Notfällen besser gerüstet zu sein. In diesem Kapitel geht es um CoBaTrICE-Empfehlungen, ST-Hebungen, Myokardinfarkt, Adenosin, Reanimation, AV-Knoten-Reentry-Tachykardie, den J-Punkt, die NNT sowie Schweigen.

Ihr Ehemann ist Pilot und konnte nicht glauben, wie niedrig die Sicherheitskultur in der Medizin ist. Er machte den Fall öffentlich, nicht um auf die Ärzte zu zeigen, sondern um uns zu helfen, aus Fehlern (auch anderer) zu lernen.
