Dieses Kapitel gibt einen kurzen Überblick über die Verteilung GABAerger und glycinerger Nervenzellen und über deren wichtigste Funktionen. Als Angriffspunkte für Arzneimittel oder Gifte dienen degradierende Enzyme, Transportproteine in der Plasma- bzw. Vesikelmembran sowie prä- und postsynaptische Rezeptoren für γ-Aminobuttersäure bzw. Glycin.
