Zusammenfassung

Für die Definition des Polytraumas im Kindesalter gilt unverändert, dass es sich um zwei signifikante Verletzungen handelt, von denen eine oder die Kombination lebensbedrohlich ist. Ein internationaler Konsensusprozess hat zwar auf der Basis physiologischer Daten versucht, eine bessere Diskriminierung relevanter Risikokonstellationen zu definieren, die entsprechenden Überlegungen sind jedoch für das Kindesalter noch nicht evaluiert und somit gerade wegen der physiologischen Basis (v. a. Blutdruck und Alter) nicht übertragbar.
