Zusammenfassung
Neugeborenenintensivmedizin kann nur erfolgreich sein, wenn es gelingt, die stets mitleidenden, oft schockierten und manchmal verzweifelten Eltern konstruktiv in die Behandlung einzubeziehen. The family is the patient. Die Grundlagen ehrlicher, verständlicher und konstanter Kommunikation mit den Eltern werden aufgezeigt, ebenso wie Strategien zur Vermeidung und Lösung von Konflikten mit den Eltern sowie Hinweise zu den Gesprächen beim Tod eines Kindes.
