Zusammenfassung

In diesem Kapitel werden nationale und internationale Daten zur Mortalität und Morbidität von Frühgeborenen aufgezeigt. Die Überlebensrate ist in den vergangenen Dekaden kontinuierlich gestiegen, ohne dass die Rate an schwerer Morbidität zugenommen hat. Eine der wichtigsten Maßnahmen zur Verbesserung der Prognose ist die Regionalisierung von Risikogeburten, d. h. der präpartale Transport von Schwangeren in ein entsprechendes Zentrum anstatt des postnatalen Transportes des Frühgeborenen. Zur Qualitätssicherung gehören die konsequente Erfassung und die kontinuierliche entwicklungsneurologische Nachuntersuchung aller Frühgeborenen.
