Zusammenfassung
Die Hyperbilirubinämie des Neugeborenen ist nach wie vor aktuell, zumal in den letzten Jahren auch in Ländern mit entwickeltem Gesundheitswesen der Kernikterus erneut aufgetreten ist. Kritische Grenzen der Bilirubinkonzentration bei Früh- und Reifgeborenen werden ebenso dargestellt wie das differenzialdiagnostische Vorgehen bei Hyperbilirbinämie. Besonderes Augenmerk wird auf den Morbus haemolyticus neonatorum gelegt. Die praktische Durchführung von Fototherapie und Blutaustauschtransfusion wird detailliert beschrieben.
