Zusammenfassung
Definition, Abgrenzung und Klassifikation dieser Störungen sind nicht abgeschlossen; auch der Begriff Persönlichkeitsstörung ist umstritten. Nach ICD-10 und DSM-IV/DSM-5 werden Persönlichkeitsstörungen generell als meist früh in Kindheit oder Jugend beginnende, anhaltende Muster von rigiden, nichtangepassten Denk- und Verhaltensweisen, die sich in nahezu allen Lebensbereichen (eigenes Erleben, Beziehungen, Beruf) als Störung für den Betreffenden oder die Umwelt äußern, konzeptualisiert. Die vorherrschenden, prägnanten Symptome, die oft kombiniert auftreten, werden nach ICD-10 und DSM-5 Subtypen und Cluster (DSM) von Persönlichkeitsstörungen (oder Diagnosen) zugeordnet, eine Diagnose ist prinzipiell ab dem späteren Jugendalter möglich.
