Zusammenfassung

Die empirischen Forschungsaktivitäten und klinischen Erfahrungen in der Behandlung von Patienten mit Dysphagie haben in den letzten Jahrzehnten unser Verständnis der funktionellen sensomotorischen Zusammenhänge der Schluckfunktion immer weiter vertieft. So wissen wir heute, dass der obere aerodigestive Trakt, der die für uns überlebenswichtigen Funktionen der Atmung und der Nahrungsaufnahme koordiniert, die komplexeste neuromuskuläre Einheit des menschlichen Körpers ist. Dysphagien werden daher als differenzierte Störungsbilder definiert, deren Behandlung die Integration unterschiedlicher interdisziplinärer Expertisen erfordert. In diesem Kapitel werden einige zentrale Aspekte und Möglichkeiten zur objektiven Evaluation solcher Therapiekonzepte vorgestellt und anhand einer Studie zum interdisziplinären Trachealkanülen-Management bei Dysphagiepatienten veranschaulicht.
