Zusammenfassung

Das sonographische Bild bietet dank hervorragender Auflösung und der Möglichkeit der dynamischen Untersuchung wesentliche Informationen bei Erkrankungen im Thoraxbereich. Die Strukturen der Thoraxwand und pleurale Veränderungen sind mit dem Ultraschall direkt darzustellen, pulmonale Prozesse müssen entweder die viszerale Pleura erreichen oder durch ein schallleitendes Medium zugänglich sein. Die vorderen Anteile des Mediastinums sind perkutan von speziellen Schallfenstern sonographisch einsehbar. Für die Untersuchung am Thorax empfiehlt sich die Kombination von einem Linearschallkopf (5–7,5 MHz) für das Nahfeld und einem Konvex- oder Sektorschallkopf (3,5–5 MHz) für die tieferen Regionen. Für die Untersuchung der oberen Thoraxapertur und der Supraklavikularregion sind hochauflösende Schallsonden von 5–18 MHz erforderlich, um die Nervenäste des Plexus brachialis und die Lymphknotenstruktur sichtbar zu machen.
