Zusammenfassung

Kopfschmerzen sind die häufigsten chronischen oder rezidivierenden Schmerzen im Kindes- und Jugendalter. Grundlage der Therapie ist eine Einteilung der Kopfschmerzen orientiert an internationalen Standards und einer nachvollziehbaren Phänomenologie. Die wichtigsten primären Kopfschmerzformen sind Spannungskopfschmerzen und Migräne, die im Kindesalter oft gemeinsam auftreten. Kinder und Jugendliche müssen diese beiden Kopfschmerzformen unterscheiden lernen, um bei Spannungskopfschmerzen Ablenkungsstrategien sowie bei Migräneattacken Analgetika einzusetzen. Psychologische und andere nichtmedikamentöse Verfahren helfen, die Häufigkeit von Kopfschmerzattacken zu reduzieren. Eine tägliche Einnahme von Prophylaktika ist in der Regel nicht indiziert. Analgetikainduzierte Kopfschmerzen kommen auch in der Pädiatrie vor, trigeminoautonome Kopfschmerzen sind sehr selten.
