Zusammenfassung

Sowohl die technischen Möglichkeiten der Sonographie als auch das Indikationsspektrum haben sich in den letzten 10 Jahren deutlich ausgeweitet. Dies gilt insbesondere für die Endosonographie des Gastrointestinaltraktes und die laparoskopische Sonographie. Zweifelsfrei gesichert ist, dass die Sonographie die chirurgische Performance verbessert. In einigen Entitäten, beispielsweise beim Ösophagus- und Rektumkarzinom, ist die Sonographie bereits obligater Bestandteil der chirurgischen Behandlungsplanung.
