Zusammenfassung

Deutschland ist seit vielen Jahren ein Einwanderungsland. In den vergangenen fünf Jahrzehnten ist die Bevölkerung in Deutschland nur deshalb gewachsen, weil Menschen zugewandert sind. Im Jahr 2020 hatten je nach Definition etwas mehr oder etwas weniger als 20 Mio. Menschen in Deutschland einen Migrationshintergrund (Berechnungen auf Basis von Daten des Mikrozensus 2020, Zahlen für 2020: Bevölkerung ohne Migrationshintergrund: 60.017.000 Menschen, Bevölkerung mit Migrationshintergrund: 19.930.000 Menschen, dazu kommen noch 1,924,000 Menschen mit einem Migrationshintergrund „im weiteren Sinne“.
