Zusammenfassung

Der Beitrag zeichnet Entwicklungslinien der Finanzwissenschaft, einem Teilgebiet der Volkswirtschaftslehre nach. Die historisch deskriptiv geprägte klassische deutsche Finanzwissenschaft wurde in den 1950er Jahren von der deduktiv ausgerichteten multiplen Theorie des öffentlichen Haushalts abgelöst, die dem Staat die Allokations-, Distributions- und Stabilisierungsaufgabe zuwies. Seit den 1970er Jahren werden ausschließlich second-best-Probleme betrachtet, bei denen es darum geht, vorgegebene Zielvorstellungen im Allokations- und Distributionsbereich kostenminimal zu realisieren.
