Dieser Beitrag befasst sich mit autochthonen (altansässigen) Minderheiten und ihren Sprachen in Europa. Im Folgenden wird beschrieben, wie diese Sprachgemeinschaften im Kontext der Nationenbildung entstanden sind und wie sie sich klassifizieren lassen. Skizziert wird zudem die aktuelle Lage der Minderheitensprachen in Europa.
