Zusammenfassung
Bislang haben wir die Prinzipien der Wahrnehmung und der Aufmerksamkeit im Allgemeinen erörtert. In den nächsten beiden Kapiteln werden die dabei gewonnenen Einsichten am Beispiel der visuellen Wahrnehmung vertieft. Im vorliegenden Kapitel beginnen wir mit einem Überblick über die wichtigsten Charakteristika der Retina und erörtern ihre Leistungen bei der visuellen Farb- und Kontrastwahrnehmung. Danach schildern wir die wichtigste Projektion der Retina zum ZNS über den Nucleus geniculatum laterale (LGN). Den Abschluss bildet ein erster Einblick in die kortikale visuelle Verarbeitung. Diese Übersicht und die Beziehungen zur visuellen Aufmerksamkeit werden wir in den folgenden Kap. 7 und 8 vervollständigen.
