Zusammenfassung
Werfen wir zu Beginn dieses Buches einen Blick in unseren Alltag. Kommen uns in dieser Alltagswelt nicht gerade Hör- und Seheinbußen älterer Menschen als gleichsam typische Kennzeichen des Altwerdens und Altseins entgegen? Etwa wenn wir in der Schlange an der Supermarktkasse stehen und feststellen müssen, daß einem älteren Menschen die Identifikation einzelner Münzen nicht mehr gelingt, oder wenn wir einen Weg erklären wollen und merken, daß wir zunächst — bei normaler Lautstärke und den üblichen Straßengeräuschen — nicht verstanden worden sind. Wahrnehmungsprobleme dieser Art treten so häufig auf, daß wir sie nicht selten als unvermeidliche Begleiterscheinungen des Alter(n)s ansehen, die akzeptiert werden müssen und an denen sich nichts ändern läßt.
