Zusammenfassung

Im „Diagnostical and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, 3rd Edition“ (DSM-III) wurde 1980 (APA) erstmals das Konzept der somatoformen Störungen als eigenständige operationalisierte Diagnoseklasse eingeführt. Somit fanden die frühen Versuche von Briquet (1859), diese Erkrankung abzugrenzen, einen vorläufigen Abschluß. Im DSM-III-R (APA, 1987) und DSM-IV (APA, 1994) wurde diese operationalisierte Diagnostik weiterentwickelt und fand — in modifizierter Form — auch in der „International Classification of Diseases“, loth Revision (WHO, 1992) Eingang.
