Zusammenfassung
Asepsis und Antisepsis sind für die Prävention krankenhauserworbener Infektionen von immer größer werdender Bedeutung, da durch den Umfang moderner, invasiver Untersuchungs- und Behandlungsmethoden die Infektionsgefährdung im Krankenhaus ansteigt. Der Anteil der Patienten mit nosokomialer Infektion betrug entsprechend einer Studie der Deutschen Krankenhausgesellschaft 1987 (Infratest 1989) in der Bundesrepublik Deutschland zwischen 5,7 und 6,3%. Bei allen nosokomialen Infektionen bestehen Unterschiede zwischen chirurgischen/urologischen und nichtchirurgischen Patienten (Abb. 17.1). Das Infektionsrisiko liegt für chirurgische Patienten etwa 3mal so hoch wie für nichtchirurgische Patienten (Haley et al. 1981). Obwohl chirurgische Patienten nur 42% der gesamten Studienpopulation ausmachten, erwarben sie doch 71% der nosokomialen Infektionen.
