Zusammenfassung
Bei männlichen Patienten treten die meisten Harnwegsinfektionen (HWI) bei Neugeborenen und Säuglingen mit urologischen Anomalien, älteren Männern mit Prostatahyperplasie oder nach invasivem urogenitalem Eingriff auf. Bei Frauen kommen HWI zumeist im sexuell aktiven Alter und in der Schwangerschaft vor; 10–20% der weiblichen Bevölkerung erleben irgendwann im Leben eine symptomatische HWI.
