Zusammenfassung

Die ständigen Verbesserungen bei der Primärversorgung schwer- und schwerstverletzter Unfallpatienten, die zunehmende intensivmedizinische Beherrschung der Schockfolgeerkrankungen sowie neueste wissenschaftliche Erkenntnisse in der Pathophysiologie des ARDS (adult respiratory distress syndrome) und dem Multiorganversagen haben im Laufe der letzten 25 jahre die Prognose der überlebenden polytraumatisierten Patienten ständig verbessert [13].
