Zusammenfassung
Zahlreiche Infektionserreger können durch Wasser übertragen werden. Unter den in der Literatur beschriebenen Viren, Bakterien, Pilzen und Protozoen haben vier Bakterienspezies eine größere Bedeutung für die praktische Krankenhaushygiene: Legionella pneumophila sowie die drei zu den Non-Fermentern gehörenden Spezies Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Stenotrophomonas maltophilia und die Acinetobacter-baumannii-Gruppe. Ihnen gemeinsam ist, vor allem Pneumonien zu verursachen, die oft mit den üblichen Cephalosporinen zur Behandlung nosokomialer Pneumonien nicht ausreichend behandelt werden können. Übertragungen dieser Erreger können entweder über direkten Kontakt, Ingestion oder Aspiration, Einatmen von Wasseraerosolen oder über die Hände geschehen.
