Die folgenden Abschnitte geben einen Überblick über die erforderlichen Maßnahmen im Rahmen der postoperativen Intensivmedizin nach herzchirurgischen Eingriffen. Es ist unmöglich, ein so komplexes Thema wie die herzchirurgische Intensivmedizin in einem Kapitel erschöpfend darzustellen. Der Leser sei daher in diesem Zusammenhang zusätzlich auf die weiterführende Literatur verwiesen.
