Zusammenfassung

Die Art der Todesumstände und die Beziehung zur verstorbenen Person können den Trauerprozess maßgeblich beeinträchtigen und unterschiedliche Formen der Trauerverarbeitung hervorrufen. Sowohl die Dauer als auch die Intensität der Trauersymptomatik kann beeinflusst werden. Im Folgenden werden verschiedene Todesursachen und deren spezifische Folgen und psychische Belastungen für die Hinterbliebenen vorgestellt. Insbesondere wird auf traumatischen, gewaltsamen Verlust und den Tod durch Suizid eingegangen.
