Zusammenfassung
Die Diffusionsmessung ist eine ergänzende Untersuchungsmethode, die wertvolle Informationen liefert und in den letzten Jahren zunehmende Bedeutung findet. Als Testgas wird Kohlenmonoxid (CO) verwendet, da es ähnliche Diffusionseigenschaften wie O2 hat, eine sehr starke Affinität zum Hämoglobin aufweist und zudem in der natürlichen Atmosphäre und somit (außer bei Rauchern) auch im Blut praktisch nicht vorkommt.
