Zusammenfassung

Die Physiologie des Verdauungstraktes von Neugeborenen, Säuglingen und Kindern unterscheidet sich nicht grundsätzlich von der des Erwachsenen. Lediglich die Besonderheiten des Alters und damit der Entwicklung und die Ausreifung physiologischer Funktionen sind hier zu berücksichtigen. Daher wird in diesem Kapitel auf die altersabhängige Entwicklung physiologischer Funktionen eingegangen. Diese spielt vor allem bei Frühgeborenen Neugeborenen und jungen Säuglingen eine herausragende Rolle.
