Zusammenfassung
Die chronisch verlaufenden entzündlichen Systemerkrankungen des rheumatischen Formenkreises weisen Besonderheiten auf, die sie deutlich von den degenerativen oder den posttraumatischen unterscheiden. So sind der multilokuläre Befall aller Strukturen, die regelhaft zu unterstellende Osteoporose (Entzündung und Kortison), die Notwendigkeit der Einnahme besonderer Medikamente (DMARDs („disease modifying antirheumatic drugs“)], NSAR (nichtsteroidale Antirheumatika), Kortison, Biologika), aber auch die Minderbelastbarkeit der Haut (z. B. durch kontinuierliche Kortisoneinnahme) zu berücksichtigen (Rehart u. Henniger 2006). Der Krankheitsverlauf gestaltet sich chronisch progredient, schubartig und ist im Individualfall (noch) nicht vorhersehbar. Es bestehen vielfach erhebliche Komorbiditäten an Herz, Niere, Leber und Lunge. Der Befall der Temporo-Mandibular-Gelenke beeinflusst operative Vorgehen durch anästhesiologische Bedürfnisse.
