Zusammenfassung

In einer Metaanalyse stellten Griffiths et al. (2005) fest, dass unter 15.950 Mitteilungen zur Tracheotomie nur 5 Studien brauchbar waren, um spezielle Fragen tendenziell zu beantworten. Sie empfehlen eine frühzeitige Tracheotomie innerhalb der ersten 7 Tage nach Intubation, wodurch die gesamte Beatmungsdauer reduziert werden kann. In einer randomisierten Studie an Polytraumapatienten konnten Barquist et al. (2006) keine Vorteile zwischen Frühtracheotomien um den 8. Tag und Spättracheotomien um den 35. Tag bezüglich der Dauer, der Inzidenz beatmungsassoziierter Pneumonien sowie der Gesamtbeatmungsdauer feststellen.
