Zusammenfassung
Die häufige Ambivalenz von Patientinnen mit Essstörungen ist eine Herausforderung für den Therapeuten. Daher ist die Förderung der Therapiemotivation durch Psychoedukation hinsichtlich der Folgeerscheinungen eines gestörten Essverhaltens sowie durch das Abwägen der kurz- und langfristigen negativen, aber auch positiven Folgen einer Essstörung ein sinnvoller und oft notwendiger erster Schritt im Behandlungsprozess. Falls notwendig, sollten Übungen zur Motivierung bei Auftreten von Therapiehindernissen im Therapieverlauf wiederholt werden.
