Zusammenfassung

In Europa erleiden ca. 370.000 Menschen einen plötzlichen Kreislaufstillstand. Maximal 50 % der Betroffenen können präklinisch »erfolgreich« reanimiert werden, sodass sie mit einem wiedererlangten Kreislauf (»return of spontanous circulation «; ROSC) in die Klinik eingeliefert werden. Nur ca. 10–15 % aller reanimierten Patienten überleben ohne neurologisches Defizit.
