Zusammenfassung

Weichteilinfektionen entstehen endogen durch Erreger der patienteneigenen Flora oder exogen mit neu erworbenen Erregern aus der Umgebung des Patienten. Die Gefahr einer Infektion ist abhängig von der Erregervirulenz, dem Immunsystem des Patienten, der Beschaffenheit des befallenen Gewebes und der sog. kritischen Keimmasse. Die Ausbreitung einer Infektion kann direkt, z. B. durch Hautverletzung, hämato- oder lymphogen, intrakanalikulär oder per continuitatem vom Eintrittsort in das umliegende Gewebe erfolgen.
