Zusammenfassung

Traumen sind im Kindesalter unverändert und auch in Ländern mit gut entwickelten Gesundheitssystemen die häufigste Todesursache. Polytraumatisierte oder mehrfach verletzte Kinder tragen hierzu in besonderer Weise bei. Schwere Schädel-Hirn-Traumen bedingen alleine oder in Verbindung mit anderen Verletzungen einen relevanten Teil der Morbidität und der Letalität. Ein fatales Outcome ist oft die Folge einer Kombinationsverletzung (Kay u. Skaggs 2006).
