Zusammenfassung

Als Antwort auf die andauernde Bedrohung des Organismus durch die verschiedenartigsten Erreger mit vielfältigen Infektionsstrategien haben Wirbeltiere ein kompliziertes Verteidigungssystem entwickelt, das Immunsystem. Es kombiniert Erkennungsvorgänge des angeborenen natürlichen Immunsystems, die die Art des Erregers erkennen und die Art der Immunantwort bestimmen, mit spezifischen, dem individuellen Erreger angepassten Verteidigungsmaßnahmen des adaptiven Immunsystems.
