Zusammenfassung
Knöcherne Verletzungen gehören zu den ersten Manifestationen, die mit einer Kindesmißhandlung in Verbindung gebracht wurden. Frühe Beschreibungen multipler und unerwarteter Frakturen bei verletzten Kindern stammen von A. Tardieu (1860) und J. Caffey (1946) (⣈ Kap. 1). Bei Henry Kempe waren sie 1962 ein integraler Bestandteil der medizinischen Diagnose einer Mißhandlung. Von ihm stammt die Außage (1962):
„To the informed physician, the bones tell a story the child is too young or too frightened to tell.“
